The verandah of each house is different from the others. The doors, the windows, the colour and designs of the tiles on the walls and floors have a predominantly Peranakan flavour. The patterns of the tiles have been seen at the houses on Ann Siang Hill. One or two were unique and I thought the blue and yellow tiles of one of the verandahs had a kind of Mediterranean feel about it. As we walked through the passageway made up of the verandahs of all the houses, we took time to appreciate the beauty that we cannot find in our modern buildings in the city.
