Outram

I met a friend here. Long time no see and we had a great chat while waiting to see our respective dentists.

Orchard Central

These escalators are not for people who fear heights. They are also great for people who want some entertainment other than shopping.

A bird's eye view of Orchard Road and the Emerald Hill vicinity.

Another shot but I prefer the one above.

Ground level, you will never see this conservation building by itself in the future.

Where in SIngapore

This park does not have a scenic seafront. It has no white sand beach and the horizon is a line broken by the presence of boats and ships because of a port on one side and a shipyard on the other. On certain evenings, it does have beautiful sunsets and there is always a a gentle breeze blowing inland.

It has trees that have been here for years. Twice I have photographed herons perched on their branches.

The trees are not able to keep out the noise from the busy road on one side and the port on the other. The greenery soothes the eyes but the noise assails your ears.

The park is reasonably well maintained by cleaners.

These lovely lamp posts are in danger of being replaced by no-fuss, utalitarian looking types that ruin your photos.

Trees shed their leaves but before that they treat us to an Autumn scene.

My job is well done so that you can enjoy your walks.

En Bloc waste

From the passenger seat of my car I felt I had to take this picture because in a few months time, even having the best camera will be useless once development work starts on this piece of land. In over 20 years that I have been living in this area, this is the second time that the apartments that once sat on this property have been demolished to make way for new ones. What a pity.

Bukit Timah Reserve on a Sunday Morning

It was late morning when we arrived at the carpark to find that there were several cars waiting for parking lots. The shortage of parking space could be partly caused by people attending a church in the area. We gave up waiting at the carpark and found a lot further away. We did not climb Bukit Timah Hill and took a stroll around the park near the visitor centre that was pleasantly and thankfully peaceful because the crowds were scaling the hill. Today, I decided to use the Canon 400D with the 250mm zoom lens.

Jalan Kayu and the Singapore Art Museum

The colours attracted me in both instances. A row of shop houses in Jalan Kayu where we went to seek out the famous Roti Prata shop. Since parking was unavailable, we went across the road and tried out a different stall.
On the opposite pole is this reburbished old building. Now it belongs to the Singapore Art Museum and Q8 is its name.

St James Power Station

Once a power station, now a disco that is fueled by a different kind of energy - that of the young, the restless and the drunk. My friend told me that she has often seen people throwing up at this traffic junction. Yucks!

Henderson Waves

A different approach to this bridge. I've never seen the Henderson Waves from this perspective before. Refreshing! It was as if a dragon in flight was breezing past me.

Never seen a man with hair longer than mine either.Stylish shelter from the sun.
Highrise apartments in the making.

Sun got in my eyes

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Could it be that the building has disappeared in the heat of the sun or a shopping complex somewhere was missing a couple of escalators? I could not believe that I would live to be such a pampered member of the public. I would have preferred a cheaper alternative. The perfectly inclined slope is a great way to slide down on a piece of huge cardboard and wouldn't it be fun to climb up the slope with some ropes dangling down. Cardboards and ropes, we could have so much fun.

Woodlands Regional Library

I have never been to the Regional Library in Woodlands till now. I must say that I enjoyed the visit because the library is big and spacious and especially at this time of the year when there is no exam fever amongst students browsing in the library is a pleasant experience. What caught my eye at the entrance was this huge ceramic art piece with smaller ones depicting various plants with their flowers or fruits.
