I like the blue in these photos. The spiral staircase is real, the building used to be beautiful but now, from a distance, it looks almost grotesque. However as you move closer you will see paintings of plants and trees and waterfall on the walls. This is a pub that most likely looks more lively at night and less bizarre in the warm glow of candlelight and warm lighting. Day and night have the powers to transform things beyond recognition.

Katong, Joo Jiat area
I killed an hour of time with my camera choosing to take these pictures using the sepia mode instead of the normal colour mode because I had wanted to concentrate on the lines, tones and shadows in what I see before me. These buildings and their facades looked rather bland in the day. However in sepia, shapes especially of the windows, were enhanced and took on a fluidity that was not obvious before.
