Telok Blangah Hill top is that place in Singapore that gives you a feeling of space and being closer to heaven on mornings when the sun is shining and people are out to breathe in air that pollution from the roads could not reach.
I love the feeling of the fifties just by looking at these balustrades. I hope they do not get torn down or be replaced. Sometimes we need reminders of the days when we were young. If everything goes the way of modernity, where could we find respite from all the hustle and bustle around us?

Sun blessed terrace.
Making our way toward the Henderson Waves.
The joggers and aunties and people like my friend and I had this bridge almost all to ourselves.

The bird that flew away - I thought I was staring at a bunch of withered leaves when the form I was looking at shifted position and took off into the air. Aiyah! Why did not have my tele lens?
In the distance, this new condominum development rose uncertainly amidst the lush green surroundings of Telok Blangah Hill.
No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you, the cluster of buildings were intended to look like a bunch of drunkards in the way they were designed.
Give me a piece of land to build a house that looks like a house anytime.
Flower of the Trumpet tree. I picked it up from the ground because it was so pretty and undeserving of its fate.
Sentosa island in the background. The pillars of the Cable Car system without the cables and the cars because of the process of renewal.
I like pavilions like these, so old-style and nostalgic.
Walking towards the Marang Trail that led us to Vivocity.

Pub by day

I like the blue in these photos. The spiral staircase is real, the building used to be beautiful but now, from a distance, it looks almost grotesque. However as you move closer you will see paintings of plants and trees and waterfall on the walls. This is a pub that most likely looks more lively at night and less bizarre in the warm glow of candlelight and warm lighting. Day and night have the powers to transform things beyond recognition.

Katong - Joo Jiat area in colour

I switched my camera mode back to colour when I saw these red lanterns and goodluck cloth. The characters on the lantern mean "Peace" and "Harmony".

Katong, Joo Jiat area

I killed an hour of time with my camera choosing to take these pictures using the sepia mode instead of the normal colour mode because I had wanted to concentrate on the lines, tones and shadows in what I see before me. These buildings and their facades looked rather bland in the day. However in sepia, shapes especially of the windows, were enhanced and took on a fluidity that was not obvious before.
I used to look at potted plants with no interest in the common clay pots that held them. Now that the plants are devoid of colours, the pots got my attention.
These people against the backdrop of this row of houses made me feel like I had gone back in time to the fifties.
The bike may be present day but the helmet was an era back.
This Indian man stood in this pose for quite a few minutes. I was curious about the upturned collar. Recently, I've seen this treatment of T-shirt collars by a man who drove a Lexus and another who drove a BMW. I wonder who their role model was.

Chairs have always fascinated me because they are such a comfort when one is tired.
The man just retrieved something from his car boot.
He looked like he was waiting for someone and went off when no one came. Probably lived around the area.
I envy such lovely flowing hair.
A renovation job in progress - this man was ready to call it a day.
