Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the Helix Bridge

The three towers of Marina Bay Sands Hotel supporting a ship-shaped roof where one can ascend to for a panoramic view of the City lights of Singapore are forever popular with people who like to take photos and I am of course, not an exception. Each time I find myself in the vicinity I will want to frame it in the best angle and place it in the most flattering position in the picture. Each photo is not taken in a hurry. Each photo is carefully created and each click registers satisfaction that that is the shot that holds the qualities to please. I am not a professional and do not possess professional equipment. I am just an ordinary person walking around my city enjoying it with just an ordinary camera.

Sunday evening walk

When I was a child, the Fullerton Hotel was the General Post Office, Clifford Pier was where we took bumboats to Kusu Island annually and Marina Bay Sands , our Integrated Resort was was not even a dream back then. Lau Pa Sat or the Old market was hot and grimy and the Satay Club was located at the esplanade that was not at all like the Esplanade of today. This evening we went to Lau Pa Sat for Dinner and had satay next to this old market that is now a tourist attraction. Fullerton Hotel has taken over Clifford Pier and now houses a posh Chinese restaurant under its beautiful arches and Marina Bay Sands rises like triple Gods of Fortune bestowing good luck on us.

Marina Bay Sands - how do you ignore a building like that?

The Marina Bay Sands Hotel has in its collection a 6,800 sq meter stainless steel and anodized aluminium installation that responds accordingly to the force and intensity of wind blowing onto its surface. The wind becomes the artist whipping up a fiery storm at its peak and creating graceful ripples when it is a gentle breeze. This gigantic piece of artwork comprises 260,000 aluminium flappers that provide a sumptuous visual treat that reflect the presence of of nature that we often take for granted. See my video here>>>>
